give you 5 of our favorite tips that have helped us make an
apartment into a
home!
1.)
Dress it up with Curtains!
No one should have to
live with those standard-issue apartment Venetian blinds. Curtains
will add a
touch of drama, and give the space a homier feel. There are also tricks you can
do with curtains
to make your space bigger. Hang them outside the window or even
where there are
no windows. Hang them floor to ceiling to create height!
2.)
Hang a Mirror! Not only is
a mirror in the
living room a great last minute
check-your-face-before-you-answer-the-door
help, but it also can give the appearance of more space! Adding a
mirror in a
room with only one window will also help draw in some beautiful
natural light!
3.)
Floating Shelves! Hanging
just one or two
floating shelves will give you a place to hang your favorite
collection of decorative
objects and mementos. You can change out the décor without having
to worry
about putting more holes in the walls. Save space in your bathroom
by neatly
rolling up towels above the toilet. Not to mention how sleek and
contemporary
your shelves will look!
4.)
Paint your Furniture! Most
apartment communities
do not want you to paint your walls, so you might be stuck with
boring white or
tan walls. Consider painting your Entertainment Center or dresser
to give your
apartment some personality!
5.)
Throw in a Rug! Decorative
rugs can pull a room
together almost instantly! You can even purchase a plain colored
rug and then
stencil in a design that you like. Sure, it’s a bit of work, but
the $$ you
will save will be completely worth it!
